Latest Celebrity Scent Roundup

Kylie and Rihanna scentsHere’s a quick roundup of a few celebrity scents scheduled for release next month and sometime later this year. Pink Sparkle POP by Kylie Minogue, Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna and wait for it… a fragrant tribute to Michael Jackson (it was only a matter of time wasn’t it).

Retaining the same flacon as last year’s Pink Sparkle and with the same champagne bottle top cap (in silver this time), this limited edition flanker celebrates life with fresh zesty notes of green apple, white peach and pink pepper. A floral heart of gardenia, tiare flower, marigold and Bulgarian rose is rounded off with sandalwood and musk. Pink Sparkle POP will be available as a 30ml eau de toilette and should hit shelves in February.

Rihanna Reb’l Fleur
There’s been talk of a Rihanna fragrance for over a year now and it seems it’s finally here. Reb’l Fleur supposedly refers to the nickname her grandmother gave her and she certainly seems to have taken this to heart, or more accurately to neck, which is where she had the word tattooed. Produced by Givaudan and promoted by Parlux (who also do fragrances for Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson), Reb’l Fleur is scheduled for a big launch in Macy’s on January 25th and is expected to go global within three months.

Rihanna is said to have been quite involved in the creation of this fragrance which is meant to reflect both her roots in Barbados as well as her life in New York and Los Angeles. This fuity chypre will include notes of red berries, plum, peach, Hawaiian hibiscus flower, violet, tuberose and coconut water on a base of vanilla, patchouli, amber and musk. Reb’l Fleur will be available as a 50ml and 100ml eau de parfum spray.

It seems that small-time perfume entrepreneur Franck Rouas has hit the big time thanks to a chance encounter with the Jackson clan in a Las Vegas exhibition hall. Having created a small number of ‘speciality’ scents including one called Versailles which supposedly sold 300,000 units in the United States, it was through sheer luck and a bit of clever opportunism that he managed to get a bottle of his perfume into the hands of Joe and Janet Jackson. This got him an interview and it seems they were so impressed with his ideas (and no doubt the money-making potential) that they signed him up to produce an official Michael Jackson fragrance.

We don’t know too much about the fragrance at this stage except that is was inspired by a bouquet of flowers and plants found in the gardens of Neverland and is expected to be available in March this year. No doubt Michael Jackson fans will be queuing at the doors to get some.



Beyonce’s Heat Proves Too Much For Daytime TV

Beyonce HeatIt’s that time of year again when it seems every second advert on TV is for perfume. Vying for attention since it’s release earlier this year is Beyonce’s first fragrance, Heat, with a fairly racy ad that’s got a few people feeling a bit too hot (well at least the 14 who were bothered enough to complain to the Advertising Standards Authority).

According to the fragrance’s manufacturer Coty, at no point was Beyonce naked (it certainly looked that way… and suggestion is a powerful thing) and the ad was “in keeping with other ads in the genre”. They did however concede that it was sexually suggestive and while “unlikely to be harmful to adults or older children” wasn’t suitable for young children – a bit of a problem when it pops up between daytime family programming. It looks like whoever was responsible for scheduling is going to feel a little ‘heat’ of their own 😉

Elizabeth Arden Adds Another Celeb To Their Line-up

Taylor SwiftIt seems that Elizabeth Arden can’t get enough of celebrity endorsed fragrances as we hear news that US country singer and aspiring actress (she starred in the recent US rom com, Valentine’s Day) Taylor Swift is the latest to join the fold. No doubt the company wants to tap into her huge following in the 13 to 24 age group – close on 13 million on Facebook alone! Taylor joins fellow Arden celebs Mariah Carey, Hilary Duff and Britney Spears and her first products are expected to hit stores in Autumn 2011.

And speaking of Britney Spears, you may already have heard that music heartthrob Justin Bieber is to launch his range of scent infused wristbands and dog tags. When asked what kind of perfume he liked on girls his answer – Britney Spears, so expect his scented goodies to have an air of sugary sweetness.

Sugababes Tempt, Tease and Touch

Sugababes PerfumesA tweet by Sugababes new girl, Jade Ewen in August, got fans buzzing about the release of a trio of Sugababes perfumes, supposedly in time for Christmas. Well it seems Christmas has come early as we hear news that the perfumes, Tempt, Tease and Touch are now available. These fruity floral scents are described as spirited, uplifting, and perfect for the modern young woman.

Sugababes Tempt, with its black flacon, opens with with iced tea and blackcurrant. Middle notes are orchid, rose and berries, with a base of musk and vanilla. Sugababes Tease, in its pink flacon, opens with lemonade and juicy pear. Middle notes of Magnolia and Jasmine give way to sweet honey and white Sandalwood. Sugababes Touch in silver, opens with cranberry and lychee followed by intense Violet and Damascus Rose on a base of Patchouli and intense musks.

Sugababes Tempt, Tease and Touch are available as 100ml eau de toilette sprays.

Lady Gaga Signs Beauty Deal With Coty

Lady GagaIt seems there’s no stopping Lady Gaga. She totally dominated the recent MTV VMA ceremony taking home eight awards, has announced her next album, Born This Way, and now we hear has signed a (no doubt lucrative) beauty deal with Coty.

The agreement was signed last week and we can expect to see the first Lady Gaga fragrance in spring 2012. Coty is of course no stranger to celebrity endorsed fragrances thanks to its relationships with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Lopez so expect this to be the first of many Lady Gaga fragrances.

JLo Gets Us Glowing In LA

JLo LA GlowJennifer Lopez has announced the latest addition to the popular Glow range in the form of L.A. Glow, inspired as the name suggests, by the hip, high energy scene in Los Angeles and the “magical moment when your 15 minutes of fame never end.”

A fruity opening of cherry charm accord, purple plum and blackberry gives way to a floral heart of jasmine, peony and magnolia followed by a base of musk, amber and tropical cream. JLo L.A.
